WHO ARE WE

Tatyana Tenenbaum (Director/Cinematographer/Editor)

I am a choreographer/composer who has created work in the downtown dance and performance community in New York City for the past 15 years. My performance work has been presented and commissioned by venues such as ISSUE Project Room, Danspace Project, The Chocolate Factory Theater, and others. Since 2012 I have worked as a freelance videographer, most notably for Baryshnikov Arts Center and Times Square Arts. I bring my experience as a dance artist to my sensitivities in framing and focus, as well as the way I navigate consent and intimacy. During the pandemic I created several dance film "virtual" premieres including: Kyle Marshall's STELLAR, In Conversation with Merce (featuring Merce Cunningham's 1972 Landrover and responses by Kyle Abraham and Liz Gerring), Holland Andrews' Museum of Calm, River Ramirez's GhostFolk and Molly Lieber & Eleanor Smith's Gloria Rehearsal Excerpt. I have documented the work of dozens of artists over the years. It is an honor to collaborate with other performance artists to document their work in a way that retains its visceral magic, intimacy, and choreographic sensibilities. I am currently in post-production with my first feature-length documentary dance film Everything You Have Is Yours inspired by the work and story of Hadar Ahvuia. The film received support from DCTV, The Gotham, New Music USA, Albi Film & Media Fund and the Dance Films Association and is expected to premiere spring 2024.
